Every New Indie Sewing Pattern Released in June 2026

Every month, I check dozens (and dozens) of independent sewing pattern companies and gather every new release into one place, so you don't have to spend hours jumping from website to website.
What stood out this month
Biggest trend:
The biggest trend I noticed this month is the Barrel Leg Pant. They are controversial, yes. Yet designers keep making their own versions. I can tell that some are leaning in alllll the way to the barrel shape like Sew Bake Make Baker Barrel Leg Pant versions. They give you a more subtle option in View A, but view B has the full curved barrel leg shape that has made this silhouette so enticing.
Love Notions released their version, the Somerset Top & Bottoms calling it a "baby barrel" and honestly you can't even really tell there's shaping in the leg, it's the easiest intro into the trend. That said, why make a Barrel Leg pant if you can't tell it's a Barrel Leg pant? I say, Go Big or Go Home!
if you want the Goldilocks version, try the Notches Patterns Tiki Trousers. These use a unique and clever inner leg panel in addition to curved seams which add volume without feeling bulky.
Most common garment
Without a doubt, the most common garment was dresses. More specifically boxy, a-line dresses. And, if you count the tops that could be hacked into dresses, the commonality would be even more prominent.
You'll find the variety in the neckline (halter, scoop, crew or V), bodice details like the angular style lines in the Annie Sewing Studio Jonni Dress, and back neclines like the dramatic deep V in the Sewing Machina Emil Dress. Now, that said, you probably have a simple A-Line sewing pattern already and they can be hacked in an infinate amount of ways, so don't go buying a brand new one if you want to tackle some easy neckline alterations.
My favorite pattern
Hands down, the pattern I cannot stop thinking about is the Just Patterns Camille Top. It's alone in terms of it's unique design, but I do think we will start seeing more of these patterns that are influenced by the traditional Chinese qipao. I'm seeing these tops all over Pinterest paired with flowy gathered skirts and they look so cool! I think making them out of non-traditional Chinese fabrics make them less about apropriation and more about inspiration and influence.
Best Budget Buy
The Best Budget Buy could easily go to the 2 new free patterns we got this month. But, instead I'm going to give it to the Ellie & Mac Julie Mix & Match Swimsuit. And, I know a swimsuit might be the last thing you think of when you're trying to sew on a budget, but this one is very different than your typical swimsuit sewing pattern. It's a set of patterns including a scoop neck top (with or without the peplum skirt), close-fitting shorts (with or without side rouching). IMHO, none of these must be sewn out of swimsuit fabric therefore you can make a whole wardrobe with just these few pieces.
Jersey knit fit and flare dress by hacking the peplum top into a dress. Add the shorts underneath for modesty.
Workout clothes with the scoop neck top and rouched shorts using Athleisure knits.
And, as intended with the swimwear fabric.
Start hacking those pieces even further and you've got a real powerhouse pattern that you'll use again and again.
