Hanbok meets northern MN
This was quite a project and I’m 100% to blame. If you could try 1 new thing, why not 12? As far as the vest itself, I love this so much and will definitely be wearing it. Because of the 4 layers, it’s nice and warm. I think it runs slightly wide for me at the shoulders so if I were to do it over again I’d adjust that for myself.
Materials: plaid was repurposed from a vest and skirt that never fit right. Because of this I had to improvise side panels due to fabric that was just slightly too narrow to cut the
front from. Sherpa was a scrap from another old garment. The blue is quilter’s cotton. Cotton ultralight batting. Random cotton for the back of the quilted section (not visible).
New techniques: quilting, using a walking foot, making bias binding, applying bias binding.
Struggles: Applying bias binding. I tried both ways and neither was great. Applying the Sherpa. I ended up machine sewing one side and hand stitching the other, but I’m planning to redo it at some future time (maybe anyway).
My assistant is Stormy the shoulder cat.

Hi five on all the skill building. Absolutely wonderful out come!
