made 2 closet core tshirts and 1 hacked into a night gown. only have 1 pic. My pocket placement is too high but its okay, it’s a nightgown. I was going for something longer but I didn’t have enough fabric

Finished the Dash. Sweatpants in January and 2 core t-shirts in February!
Sorry no picture as I packed it up. I didn't even try it on but it's fine as I made it to be a top for my PJ bottoms. So much fun sewing along. Can't wait to do March.
Finally finished the Core Tee the other day. Trying to work through the fabric I have already,so I used a knit for most of it but I didn't have quite enough for the sleeves. Found a thrifted cotton sheet I already had and made the sleeves and matching pocket. Pretty pleased since it's my first t-shirt. I do have another remnant of the same knit in a different color and about the same amount. So I think I might try doing a sleeveless top and just shorten the shoulder width and do the same collar technique around the armholes ( or at least something similar)

So after trying to use both of my sewing machines to try and so this and having issues i got out my serger. What a difference . I got it done. I didnt hem it because I wasn't sure how to on my serger and I kind of like it unhemmed. I also didnt do the should binding. I had my husband take a very embarrassing picture of me in it. Please dont judge me.:) I have scoliosis so when I wear tiight things it shows more. I should have gone up a size so it wouldn't be so tight. But I am proud of myself that I kept going and didnt give up with all the issues I ran into. I cut out another shirt from this pattern. I really like it but definitely will go up in a size and figure out to hem it.:)
I finished sewing the Core T-Shirt yesterday and used sparkly knit fabric to elevate the basic tee. It’s hard to see the sparkle, but it shines in person! I made the hip length with 3/4 length sleeves and omitted the pocket. The size I sewed didn’t have darts. I attempted the back band but my fabric didn’t cooperate. So, I removed the back band. At least I learned a new method to try with different fabric later! This is a great basic pattern to have in my stash!

I made 2 Core T-shirts one in a double brushed poly knit which will be a pyjama top and the second is made using a lovely soft Viscose elastane jersey . I am very happy with these makes . The pattern was great and easy to follow .I didn't use the binding but will try this technique with a more stable knit.

I'm finally done with my Core T-Shirt. I've lengthened it into a dress/night gown. I think this pattern worked really well for this as it already accommodated the hips and I just made it longer. I used the finishing technique on the back of the neck, it was tedious but really is comfortable to wear. I also used a double needle to do the hems. I used 100% cotton knit and had to use all the tricks to get a nice finish.

I thought I had replied to your question, fillyfiber, but it doesn't show up. I didn't use elastic, I just ran two drawstrings like the top of a cinch bag.
Last month I joined 2 weeks in and did a muslin of the Dash sweatpants. Between the muslin and this month I bought a beginner serger and it was life-changing! This month I did the Core t-shirt and the sweatpants as an outfit. The shirt was from upcycling my husbands too large Abercrombie tshirt. These are my first 3 garments so there were lots of missteps. I didn’t do the shirt binding. On the Dash I went down to a 1” elastic waistband because it’s just more comfortable. Added an interior drawstring and piping (oldschool 1980s). Piping is the devil when it’s doubled up. Biggest question I have is whether the serged blind hem looks like it’s supposed to or did I miss something with the tension (went by the manual’s suggestions)?

This pattern sat on my floor during a busy week, then I finally got it put together and cut out. One day I cut my pieces and the next two days I sewed when I had a moment. I found a video to help me understand the neckband application. It's finally done and I really love it!
I made the cropped version and skipped the pocket and neck/shoulder binding and I used an oversized rayon spandex skirt, using the skirt hem for the bottom hem of the shirt. Easy enough! I will definitely make this again...it's super comfy!
It goes so well with a fresh haircut. 😉

Love the Closet Core pattern. The blue one was the first one made. The flower one, top right , where I adjusted the full bust adjustment and used a smaller size. The bottom right, which is actually pink, was the final creation with all the size and bust adjustments.
This was my first Closet Core pattern and I really enjoyed making this. I kept putting it off though after cutting it out because I procrastinate things I'm scared of, or things I've never done before, which was the encasing at the back inside collar. But it really wasn't too bad, once I sat down and did it. Anyway, I just love how this came out. This dead stock fabric I had had in my stash for ages was stretchier than I remembered, so cutting out was challenging. But the selvedge! This spectacular fringe, I had to do something with it. So I incorporated it into the design, super fun!

Great, quick sew! I made the crop version out of a wool blend from my stash. The bright red was perfect for Chinese New Year.
Love the cute little pocket. I did the neck binding only across the back neck. Just an esthetic choice as I didn't want a sewing line all the way across the neck and shoulders. I used some elastic in the shoulder seams for stability and I am happy with the results.
I like the boxy style but I will make a longer version at some point as I like the fit in the neck/shoulders.
I finished my Core T-shirt. I am happy with the way it turned out. I did add the pocket and the neckband binding (which is a really nice finish). My stripe matching and bust dart both turned out well. I made a size 16 bust and 18 waist and hips with a 2-inch FBA. I think next time I will just make a straight size 16, because it seems a bit large in the waist and hips since I did the FBA. This is my first Closet Core Pattern and I think I may need to try more.

Hi five on the pattern matching with the stripes across the pockets. Your tee shirt look nice on you.
Hi everyone, I finished my Core T and found it super easy to complete and comfortable.. it’s a bit big, but that’s my fault as I printed the wrong size pattern group.. I am usually a 10 or 12 and I printed the 14+ size group.. but I thought the 14 would work just fine.. I used a waffle knit leftover from Dash pants project and a bit of contrast knit I had on hand. The collar I found was too big for my liking so I changed neck to a mock turtle .there is some gathering around the neck but overall Im happy with the result.. I will play with this pattern and make more Core Ts soon as it’s a great pattern.
Hi five on the pivot. You Core T-shirt is pretty, I ke the color combo. You made it work.
Here are the photos of my finished makes. I also made a head band to match the lounge set.

I finished my Core T-shirt last week. I hacked the collar using the raw edge collar technique by Manerva . The body of the stee is out of some cotton stretch frantic and I used the rest of the Jersey top sheet in blue for the sleeves and pockets. I wore this as a lounge set with the Dusty pant to attend the Black History month sewing Reteat in Austin, Texas this past weekend. This is my first time sewing knit fabric. I love both these pattern because they are truely size inclusive. I will make both again.
Love the collar hack. It looks great on you. Need to get in gear and get mine made still!
Finished the t-shirt finally. Takes me forever to hem things because I hate changing the thread in my cover stitch. Made it in a mystery knit from Fabric Mart fabrics in an exciting color, 😂 I didn't want to do the neckband binding, but I'm so glad I did. It is a really nice finish. I love closet core patterns, so I'm so glad Lindsey picked this one. Oh, I did the darts, too, part of the size I chose. Would definitely make again!

This is the t-shirt pattern for February that I made into a Valentines Day themed t-shirt dress. I used my embroidery machine to add the heart cutouts at the chest and sleeves. I've recently lost 140 lbs, so I always get my sizing wrong lol. I should've sized down for the look I was going for, but otherwise, I love the way this dress came out. It's perfect for my Valentines Day date on Saturday!

I love pattern hacking (as you can probably tell from my January make!). For this t-shirt pattern, I modified the sleeves into lantern sleeves with cuffs and added a ruffled peplum for extra shape and movement. I’m especially obsessed with the neckline detail included in the pattern — it adds such a polished finish. I can’t wait to use this neckline technique in future projects.
I finished the t-shirt. The first I’ve made for me, well actually, I did make it much longer to wear as a nightshirt over pj pants and eliminated the pocket. I’ve had this lovely soft cotton thick
‘ Ima-gine Jersey knit ‘ in my stash from Fabricville Canada. Perfect opportunity to use it. I will make another with the leftovers, for my daughter. Pretty pleased how it turned out.

Just saw Lindsay’s ‘short’ showing our makes! 😎 They all look great 👏🏻 Thanks for posting Lindsay.
Hey Mia Clusener. I hope you can see it this time.
I would love to see your simple shirt too.
I finished my Core T-Shirt this afternoon. I will definitely make more of these but with a few adjustments. I decided to try lettuce hems on the sleeves and bottom hem edges. I like the sleeve but not thrilled with the bottom edge. It was fun to try though. I also chose to cover the back neck edge and shoulder seams because I have never done that before. The instructions were easy for me to follow. The pattern fabric requirements for a size 12 were just enough for me to make it with only small scraps left. I will plan on adding a bit for adjustments for my next one.

So happy with my fit. These are my wearable muslin pair. It is a lot of work and time but well worth the time. I made these from a jersy cotton top sheet. The curling was insane so I use a ton of pins to manage . I made a 4X and I'm 5'2.

I love this pair made from poly brushed rib knit. So comfy.
Can't get the picture to download here. Look below in comments. Don't know why the picture is SO big....LOL my excuse is I'm old and not good at this stuff.
I finish my Dash pants last weekend. I am happy with the fit through the waist and hips ,the legs are a bit wide for my preference, I will wear them at home as they are very comfortable . I used a Modal French Terry
Hi guys!
I am completely new to sewing, so I wasn’t confident making pants as my very first project would be successful. So, I tried this skirt instead using step by step instructions from the book " Sewing in a straight line" by Brett Bara
I started sewing when my kids were little to make Halloween costumes, then some curtains and now after many years I’ve learnt quite a lot, but there is always days when I still get the blank expression as I try to understand what is going on in a pattern. 😂😜

My Dash pants in a fabric mart fabrics French terry. I graded the legs down one size, but they're still pretty large in the legs. Don't know if I'd be wearing tiger pants outside, though! Perfect for at home. I put the waistband on upside down, and these were my first grommets. Fun challenge, Lindsey, looking forward to the next.
Oh those are really nice, like the contrast on pockets. Nice fabric, I would wear them out, they’re awesome! 👏🏻

I loved this challenge! These are items I’ve sewn before, so it was fun to revisit them with a new pattern and a deadline and give them a fresh twist. I turned the pajama bottoms into a skirt and also made the hoodie. The hoodie pattern ran a bit large, but I still really enjoyed the process. It came together as the perfect workout outfit. Thanks for the motivation to level up my sewing skills!
Hi guys. I am completely new to sewing. I joined the challenge but I didn't make the pants. I made a skirt in January. Can I still share it?
I'd love to see it! I'm also new to sewing and made a simple top as my first garment. I have been traveling and haven't tried making the pants pattern yet either.
I was so ready to give up on these pants. I did finish them but they will be going used for cleaning lol. I couldn't figure out the pockets and ended up cutting them out after sewing the sides up and saw it was all wrong. Everything about the pants are wonky. I will maybe try and make them again using a different fabric (i used an old bedsheet that I got at goodwill). I also found the pdf pattern was a little more difficult to put together than what I am used too. I also havent sewn with knits. I havent sewn for myself in a long time to which is a challenge lol. Used to sewing for my daughhters when they were little and now my granddaughters. Hoping Feb. Challenge is better. :) Sorry for complaining:)
I'm excited to participate with everyone on Lindsey's sew along this year. I'll be using patterns from my collection, inspired by each month's choice as outlined by Lindsey. For January, I sewed up Butterick B7014 in a deep purple polyester fabric. I made an XL based off my waist measurement. The pants don't look horrible, but they are definitely too big, especially in the rise. I did meticulous sewing, so I'm a bit gutted. I will eventually take them apart and re-cut the pieces in a smaller size. Right now I'm excited to move on to another project.

Beautiful!! I've found that if I go with the hip measurement, I can always adjust the waist. It's a lot easier and the pants fit better with less work. Good luck!
made 2 pair for me and my daughter. Grey is a thin sweatshirt fleece, pink is a terry rayon

Ta da! Here they are! These are my finished Dash Pants. I made up a straight size L based on my measurements. I used the Ultra Plush Double Brushed Organic Cotton Fleece fabric from Stylemaker.
These pants were a feat of perseverance, but I'm glad I stuck it out! I tried to deviate from the instructions and ended up having a tough time sewing through all the layers of thick fabric to attach the waistband. I ended up unpicking the whole band and sticking to the tutorial. I also chose substituted a 1" elastic so I could thread it through easier.
Overall, I'm happy with my pants. They're really soft and cozy- they feel like my Labubu!
Glad you persevered because they look wonderful and you even have a mini-me with your matching Labubu.
I’ve never sewn a piece of clothing (just crafts) so I’m not sure pants were the best start - but what the hey. I bought some knit but started with a mock-up using an old sheet. Mistakes were made. Had to remove the waistband and recut it because it was too narrow. The R pocket gaps a little. Still need to complete the hem. Looking forward to building some skills in 2026!

Loved this pattern. Added 2” to the length for my height and omitted the grommets and drawstring because I’m lazy. 😁.
I had this stretch velvet in my stash and intend on making a top (probably our Feb pattern) to match for a set.
I had no idea velvet was so messy! I had to clean my rotary cutter twice while cutting and my machine and serger need a good cleaning now. But it was worth it. This pattern was a fun and easy sew. Will make them again.
Thanks all! I bought 12 (TWELVE) yards! of this fabric to make matching pjs for the girls in my family. They absolutely HATED the fabric! Hahaha. So - it has languished in my stash for a few years. Now I’ll use it for fun projects like this. I don’t think I’d ever wear it out of the house! Hahahaha!!!

I finished my Dash pants! I really love them. I had just barely enough of this fleece backed sweatshirting leftover from making the top I'm wearing (by cocowawa patterns). I actually didn't have enough for the pocket bag liner, so I cut those pieces from some of my sons old sweatpants. 😄
I haven't been sewing much lately, and I wasn't feeling comfortable using my serger on this project. So, I just used my sewing machine.
I was right in the middle of the size S measurements, so I made those with no adjustments - except lots of shortening, because I'm just under 5'.
I love the wide leg, and this type of fabric for the pattern.
So glad I made them!
Used some fleece that has been in my stash for ages, glad to have it gone. Like others, had an issue with the thickness and waistband, but hey, these are for lounging. Size L, three inches removed from length, if I make again will size down.

Bad seam matching due to the thickness of the fleece
These collect pet hair and dust like crazy, and used my Prym Vario tool for the first time to put in the grommets. Not sure how long they will last, but we shall see. Label from Kylie and the Machine’s Sweary Sewist advent calendar.
Finally finished the dash pants! Made them from a knit flat bedsheet I had in my stash and saved the top hem for an elastic casing

Jersey lounge pants... oh yes please! These look great! Will be eyeing up my local thrift for some sheets ASAP!
Beginner sewist not perfect but improving with each make & learning more each item finished . Thanks for Dash pants !

.
Want a tip for sewing with plaid? Cut the waist band on the bias (45* angle). It will eliminate the odd lines not matching up. Would be a good "level up" skill for your next pair!
I’m excited to be participating again this year in Sew Together, and I finished sewing the Dash Sweatpants yesterday! I made the high rise version, took 2” from the length, put in a 1” hem, and used 1 1/4” elastic for the waist. A helpful hint for the all the layers at the waist is to baste the top of the pockets to the pants before installing the waistband. It keeps everything from possibly moving. I paired my pants with a cardigan I’d previously sewn (Grandpa Cardigan from Patterns for Pirates) for a coordinating look.

Finishd my pair yesterday! I did the low rise because I was just short on fabric to make the high rise version, however, when I went to hem them I wound up having to cut 3.5" off

the length because they were super long. I didn't do the grommets or cording because I am lazy. And sorry for the flat lay pics, I don't really like taking pics of myself. Also, my fabric is cotton lycra.
Absolutely no pressure to take pics of you wearing the things you make in this challenge! Your pants look fab!
This is a wonderful beginning of year sew along. I have made a total of three pants with this challenge. Photos will be uploaded soon.
I finished my Dash pants today. I am really happy with them. Perhaps next time, I will size down a size. I have not added my drawstring yet. I am a knitter and I am going to knit an i-cord for this. I added a top stitch to the edging of the pocket. I did not sew in a channel for the drawstring as my grommets are sitting a bit low and the channel would not be centered. I plan to make the Jack Hoodie from the same fabric. That will be a project for another day.
The topstitched pocket is such a good idea. Bummed I didn't think of that! Can't wait to see your DIY drawstring and matching hoodie!

So glad to share that I’m finally finished with the Dash Pants. I found the adorable fabric at Walmart in the remnants section of their sewing/craft department.
I love a good deal and the free pattern was the best part! This is my first loungewear pants. The fabric is fairly thin so I wasn’t sure how they’d turn out. I’m pleased with the pattern though and will make these again with a more substantial fabric.

I'm sleeping on Wal-marts fabric section! Definitely going to check it out next time I'm there!
The slash pockets were a bit of a challenge but now I know how to do them. Next time should be easier. I can't stop wearing these pants!!

All done! I really like the fit of these. I made a few adjustments to the pattern. I lowered the back waist by 1" and lengthened the legs 1". I love my fabric as it is 100% cotton, but, I didn't want this color so I might dye them after I inevitably stain them!

As soon as my daughter (14) saw that the first pattern was sweatpants she begged for them to be hers.
I had a goal to use only fabric from my stash but I didn't have any pieces of jogging fleece that were large enough.
I lengthened the pattern for a 31" inseam and a wide hem (I think I missed in the pattern where they indicate the hem width). I used metal eyelets and a hockey skate lace for the tie hockey playing daughter thought this is awesome).
She is very pleased with new pants!

I'm finally finished with the pants. My first pair of pants, or any bottom. They do have pockets, thanks to everyone that sent links! The pants were just.. way too large. I didnt really look at the measurements and just did the size I would grab first at the store. After all that and them being basically unwearable, I looked up some videos and figured out how to shrink them. Now I'm really happy with them. I am hoping to make some socks out of all the extra fabric I cut off lol

Finished up the pants today. I like the addition of the drawstring feature and got to use the buttonhole maker on my sewing machine for the first time for that instead of grommets. The pockets really threw me. Am I the only one? I ended up sewing the outside of the pocket lining on one of the side to the outside edge of the pants to get it to line up but not sure if that is correct. The pockets didn't lay especially flat during the waistband attachment portion. I mean, they are functional pockets so I did something right, but not neat by any means. Thankful for this Sew Together challenge to try my hand at garment sewing!
The pockets aline probably better if you take a thin fabric on the inside of the pocket. I followed the instructions as well using the same fabric everywhere. I ran into the same issue as you. I did fix it with a fixing stich on the inside on the seam allowance.
I finished the sweatpants. Yeah, my first inch pattern.. I started with the math and then I thought oh gosh, I just wing it. 🤫Yeah, the pants do have four darts now... 🫣maybe I should rename my account into chaos sewing. I ran in an elastic band issue (solved that after a while with 2cm wide, thick and strong made elastic) since my fabric also was a thick jersey (you might call it double knit - it has a colourfull woven through side and a black side on the inside) I already had in my stash. Too many colours for a dress, ok for sweatpants.

I finished the Dash Sweatpants. I used French Terry from KnitFabric.com. I shortened the pattern 2-inches but I think I need to shorten them some more. I like them and they are very comfortable.
I used a double cloth polyester jersey for this pair. I may make another pair with the navy side out as well. They are very comfortable and would be great to wear for a road trip. I made a size M. I shortened them 3" but would shorten at least another 1" if I make them again.

I finished my Dash pants tonight and I really like them, I used a lightweight waffle knit I found at Hobby Lobby. I chose the high waisted 1.5 “ elastic band. Very comfortable.. I would like to make another pair soon.

So I finished one pair for me, they turned out ok, rather loose fitting, I think next time, I will taper the legs toward the ankle as I found them rather baggy for my personal choice. The fabric I used was a lightweight viscose knit I had in my stash, so a heavier weight material would be a much better choice. Good lounging pants for the house.
I made a second pair for my husband. These turned out way better and he’s taller so fit him better in the leg without shortening the length. I probably could have made one size smaller for him, as they were a big baggy across the front but that’s ok as he has room to bend and sit. 😆Made his from needle corduroy from my stash.

Closet core tee finished . Added a band to length . Comfy & pink !
