Sew Together 2026

Hi there,

May and June have been a whirlwind for our family. Our son got married so I made my dress for the wedding in place of the sandstone dress. In all the wedding frenzy I forgot to post the Basalie top.

This one might be my favourite so far. I used a coral cotton that has beautiful drape from my local fabric shop that is going out of business. I lined the yoke front and back and added some light interfacing to the neck line. I might size down half a size next time or maybe just reduce the width of the neckline. I love the length, how light it is, and the drape of the fabric. Definitely a winner for a hot weather

This was a fun easy sew with two mystery fabrics from Fabric Mart.

Here's my finished top. This is the first time I have worked with double gauze. I found that I needed to wash it after pressing and hemming to get the texture back. I also lined the yoke with a cotton lawn and used the burrito method to enclose the gathered seam of the lower top. And because I didn't bother changing my overlocker thread, it doesn't match!

Finished my Basalie Top., a quick easy sew that I like a lot.. I found a soft double gauze at Hobby Lobby that works well for this pattern,

I finished the Basalie Flutter Sleeve Top and used cotton fabric I had in my stash. This fun, easy free pattern is a great way to create a designer look on a budget!

I made this out of some Trina Turk voille fabric from mood. It came in panels and I wanted the strings at the bottom to be on the sleeves as well but that would have been four panels of fabric so I skipped that. The sewing was pretty easy and straight forward. I made it is a smaller size along the waist as I felt it was too flowy for me. I am a structured lady. I wear it with jeans and like it a lot. I seem to struggle with bias bindings around necklines.
